With a personal Bengal-specific breeding experience of over 5 years, the family team at Carolina Wilds strives to produce kittens of the utmost quality and health that will instantly become beloved members of your family. Maeren grew up in a household that was always breeding and working with animals. From fish, to dogs, to horses, she has a vast knowledge of how to appropriately breed, care for, and train many types of animals. Andrew has always loved animals of all kinds, but has had a lifelong affinity for cats in particular.
When we got together in 2017 it was clear that our passions aligned and we began to form the foundations of what has now become Carolina Wilds. Living here on a horse farm in North Carolina has provided us with the opportunity and space to breed all of the animals we love. Here we have bred livestock guardian dogs, polo horses and, of course, our beloved Bengal cats. As responsible breeders, our goal is to continue to evolve and perfect the standard for the ideal Bengal cat so those genetics can be shared with the world and enjoyed by countless families. We follow all responsible breeding practices to ensure that the care and happiness of our animals comes first above all else. We firmly believe that both nature and nurture play equally significant roles when it comes to producing an animal of the highest caliber. This means that we focus our breeding program on only the best genetics possible and treat every animal as a part of our own family until they can become a part of yours.
Bengals are truly one of the most interesting domestic breeds of cats available today. The breed did not really begin forming until 1970 and gained little to no notoriety until 2000 and onwards. The breed is currently still surging in popularity due to the outstanding temperament of almost all well-bred bengal cats.
Bengals are a smart, playful, loving and energetic addition to any household or family. In fact, they transcend most stereotypes of what a cat acts like. For instance, many bengals will have a natural drive to retrieve items and enjoy playing in water. They also communicate with more than mere meows and purrs, it is fairly common for bengals to chitter or chirp when they are excited. Bengals are the kind of breed that draws you in with their striking coats and markings, but keeps you coming back for just how much fun they are to have around. While raising any cats alongside dogs will make friendly dog-cat interactions more likely, the bengal breed already shows a natural tendency to cohabitate well with dogs because of their outgoing, brave, and playful demeanor.
*Here at Carolina Wilds, all of our cats are exposed to interactions with large dogs as kittens. If cohabitation with dogs or small children is a concern to you, we are happy to provide your chosen kitten with extra exposure to them to ensure as smooth and safe of a transition from our home to yours.
